Boomi Integration: Trivia of the Day Bot

Objective:

Automate the process of sending a daily trivia question via email to a list of friends. Each friend receives a unique question with shuffled answers, and the correct answer is hidden using an HTML.

 Process Summary

This Boomi integration:

• Reads a list of friends from a CSV file.
• Sent a trivia question with multiple choices to each friend.
• Used HTML to send questions
• Randomized answers to avoid the correct one always appearing first.

 Detailed Flow Description

1. Start (No Data)

Initiates the process manually or via schedule.

2. Message Shape (Initial Log)

Used to log or indicate the start of the process.

3. Data Process (CSV Parser)

• Reads and parses the CSV file.Profile maps Email.
  

4. Flow Control – Run Each Document Individually

• Ensures each friend (row from CSV) is processed independently.

5. Branch Shape

Splits flow into two paths:

Branch 1: Set Email Property

• Set Properties:
• Extracts the email from the document and stores it as a DPP dpp_email.
  

 

Branch 2: Trivia API Path

• Notify Shape: Logs current friend being processed.
• HTTP Client: Calls the OpenTDB API to retrieve one random trivia question.

6.Data Process(Groovy Script for Shuffling

Merges correct and incorrect answers.

Shuffles them randomly.

Stores each shuffled answer as optionA, optionB, etc. in DPPs

Here, we can send the email content body using HTML

8. Set Properties (Email Receiver)

• Sets dpp_email into the mail connector To field.
  

 

9. Mail Connector

• Connection: Gmail
• Operation: Sending trivia to mail
• To: ${DPP_email}
• Subject: Trivia of the Day 🧠
• Body: HTML content from message shape
  

  

10. End

Terminates the process for the current friend.
